Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Excellent restaurant with a simple decor leaving all the surprise and entertainment for your plate! Very high quality ingredients, excellent presentation and service. I recommend the choux farci which is a true gem on the menu. Wines by the glass are varied and well priced too!"
"A wonderful, lovely experience! Highly suggest booking reservations early in the day, if not the day before. Cannot speak to how their dining room is regularly, but when we dined on Wednesday, the place was full up! Insider tip: they have English menus available if you’re not adept at maneuvering a French menu, and most of the staff we encountered spoke English very well. The rabbit dish (pictured w/grilled cabbage leaf) was sublime and apparently has been the one dish to stay on the menu since their opening; worth the order. Artfully decorated & plated w/o being awkward to eat at very reasonable prices. A wonderful wine list to browse for small French thoughtful winemakers. Overall, a worthy experience and look forward to a return visit."
"This is the best hidden gem in Paris. The restaurant is cozy and friendly even to non-French speakers. The food is divine, all starters and main dishes we ordered were beyond great. We will definitely come back in our future Paris trips. Thank you for having us."
"Went because of a friend recco and I was very very pleasantly surprised! Great service and very cute restaurant. Menu changes seasonally. I had the 8 hr stewed lamb, honestly it was so tender! It had deep fried cauliflower and chick peas for crisp and the flavour was so well done and light. Dessert we had a citrus fruit one which was creamy and fresh. I was told though the recommended dish was the Rabbit with Chou! Will come back to try that for sure. Also found out that this is actually the #1 bistro of Paris in 2024, well deserved! Thank you! EDIT: came back a second time to try their signature rabbit it appetizer. Super delicious! Was also recommended to get the pate en croute, but will need to save that for next time :)"
"This spot was a Paris highlight. The food was outstanding. I had the cod for mains and shared the tarte tartin for dessert - both were superb. The service was great and we loved the whole vibe of the restaurant. We appreciate being squeezed in without a reservation. We can’t wait to come back! (Also sorry that France lost the rugby )"
"Excellent service. Great atmosphere. Super tasty entrees. The dishes were good, not as exceptional as we were expecting. The menu changes so we were expecting different options than the ones we were offered once there. Will definitely return to try other dishes."
"We had lunch there. Whilst the menu could be slighly more elaborated (also the wine list) we did not regret our choice. Food was well cuisined and delicious. Service was solid. Price was adequate (a bit high). A very good experience. To be recommended."
"Dear Restaurant Janine Team, My wife and I had dinner at your restaurant last week while visiting Paris, and it was absolutely delightful. One of my best friends from Los Angeles is a world traveler and true “foodie,” and he highly recommended your restaurant. I’m so glad we followed his advice. Everyone who took care of us was cheerful, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, and every bite of food was absolutely delicious. The entire experience felt special from start to finish. Thank you for such a memorable evening. We look forward to returning to Paris — and to Restaurant Janine. Warmly, Jim"
